Branch 116 Bridge
By Milt Greenstein

SIR Branch 116 has some enjoyable Bridge sessions and we get a good turn out of worthy and honorable opponents. Our Bridge games are purely for fun and Master Point skills are not a requirement for this group. Our Bridge Chairman, Milt Greenstein (925) 376-5589, is always looking for new players to join the fun and we generally have from 5-8 tables.
We have two Bridge games per month (including luncheon) on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, and are fortunate to have two great sites.  On the 2nd Tuesday at Round Hill Country Club, Alamo and on the 4th Tuesday, Diablo Country Club, Diablo.  Players arrive around 11:30 a.m. for no-host refreshments, with lunch served promptly at noon.  Bridge play starts at 1 p.m. and concludes by 3:30 p.m.  Costs, including generous prizes for top finishers, slams bid and made, and lunch is approximately $20.00.
We also have a newly formed Duplicate Group that plays on the first Tuesday of the month at the Bridge Center in Pleasant Hill.  We usually have 3-5 tables and if you would like to join us please call Bob Daily at (925)  837-7080, or sign up at our regular monthly bridge sessions on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at Roundhill and Diablo Country Clubs.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF BRANCH 116 BRIDGE GROUP

SIR 116  Bridge is winding down its 21st year.   We started with two tables playing in member’s homes.  Two of our current, active players, Bob Lake and Warren Westrup are Charter Members of the original SIR 116 Bridge Group.  Since that time we have expanded our roster to more than forty players.  Our first director was Ed Turnquist followed by, Bob Little, Bill Andrews, Fred Massaro, Jack Butler and Jim Pope.  We have moved from playing in members homes, to the Ladies Tea Room, the Swim Club, Boundary Oaks Restaurant,  a Chinese Restaurant, Forli’s Restaurant, Alamo Women Club, Round Hill  and Diablo Country Clubs.  We are now playing Duplicate Bridge, Couples Bridge and continuing our twice a month Men’s Bridge.  We are always ready to add new members to join us in any of these groups.
